Tips
When it comes to pregnancy style there are no rules but there are definitely some tips which can help keep you chic for 9 fabulous months:
Keep it fitted! This is my mantra, you will look so much cuter (and thinner) if you wear clothing which accentuates your changing figure and shows off where you have some new curves and also where you don’t! Big oversized clothing will just make you look amorphous. No more muu-muus!!
Show some skin: Wear your dresses and skirts a little shorter, or show off your back, or when appropriate your cleavage (after all, this is one great pregnancy benefit!) Don’t be afraid to go sleeveless.
Invest in simple versatile pieces of good quality which you can mix and match to create a multitude of different looks.
When in doubt, dip yourself in one neutral color (black, grey, navy, brown). It is slimming and elegant and you can’t go wrong!
You will need one little (or perhaps not so little!) black dress. This will be your go-to dress. You can dress it up, down, and wear it day, night, just by switching your accessories and your make up.
Wear your favorite bold costume jewelry with everything for instant chic!
Buy a really great fitting pair of denim jeans. We do them in all fits and washes, but if you can only buy one pair, make it a darker wash as that will be easier to dress up and thus more versatile.
Dresses are your best friend as they are one stop instant outfits and are always appropriate. I lived in them when I was pregnant. Why don’t you buy one in a cute floral?
Keep your shoes light and feminine, nothing chunky or clunky! I love flip flops for casual days and nights and as much as I adore sky high heels, please avoid them and opt for smaller shorter heels for evenings out. Kitten heels are always a cute option…
Choose an exercise that is right for you. Pregnancy is not a time to take up a rigorous activity, so if you’ve never set foot on a track in your life, don’t start running 3 miles a day!
Always remember that this is the most exciting time of your life and your wardrobe should reflect that same happy celebratory spirit!
